Elanco SAP Ariba® Implementation
We are pleased to announce a new initiative to streamline our procurement and accounts payable processes. Elanco is partnering with SAP Ariba to fulfill our vision of moving away from paper and manually transmitted documents. The selection of SAP Ariba was made in conjunction with the development of Elanco’s new SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, planned to go live in early 2021. This initiative also represents a pivotal step in our path to becoming an independent Elanco as we transition from Eli Lilly and Company’s eConnect platform. We believe the transformation to our new ERP, and transacting through SAP Ariba, will help meet our needs as a global independent animal health leader dedicated to innovating and delivering for farmers, veterinarians and pet owners, and the animals in their care – because making their life better, makes life better.
A primary rationale in our choice of SAP Ariba is the range of benefits the Ariba Network brings to our suppliers. Transacting purchase orders and invoices through the Ariba Network will improve speed with real-time purchase order delivery, use of online catalogs and invoice automation which improves compliance. Suppliers seeking to grow their reach can also leverage the tools and connections on the Ariba Network to seek out potential new business opportunities.
Our suppliers are being contacted and asked to transition to the Ariba Network in phases. Once suppliers receive information regarding their transition, the SAP Ariba team will be available to help those suppliers that are new to the system to establish accounts and prepare for electronic trading. Existing SAP Ariba users will need to set up a trading relationship with Elanco.
While SAP Ariba will be Elanco’s preferred method of transacting with suppliers—sending purchase orders and receiving invoices—suppliers in some countries may not be able to send invoices via the Ariba network due to government regulations or other local requirements. Note: Suppliers that currently use SAP Ariba for heritage-Bayer Animal Health orders should continue to use their existing account for those orders, or continue using the current AP and procurement processes if they are not yet using SAP Ariba. Alignment of Elanco’s two SAP Ariba systems (heritage-Elanco and heritage-Bayer Animal Health) will occur at a later date.

Elanco contacts, ordering and invoicing processes for Elanco products remain the same. Bayer Animal Health informed its suppliers in June and July of important actions that need to be taken to ensure continuity of purchase orders and invoicing heritage-Bayer Animal Health for your products or services.
