Elanco SAP Ariba® Implementation
Elanco has streamlined our procurement and accounts payable processes by partnering with SAP Ariba to fulfill our vision of moving away from paper and manually transmitted documents. The transition to SAP Ariba accompanied the deployment of Elanco’s new SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform in 2021. Since our acquisition of Bayer Animal Health in August 2020, Elanco has been operating on two separate systems and processes while we aligned our back-office systems to fully integrate both companies. We’ve made significant progress and the activity is nearing completion. We expect our shift to One Integrated Elanco to be complete in April 2023. The integration will enable Elanco, and our vendors to engage with one another through a single set of tools and processes.
Please read this update on the stabilization of our new systems, including important reminders regarding invoice processing and contact information.
A primary rationale in our choice of SAP Ariba is the range of benefits the Ariba Network brings to our suppliers. Transacting purchase orders and invoices through the Ariba Network improves speed with real-time purchase order delivery, use of online catalogs and invoice automation which improves compliance. Suppliers seeking to grow their reach can also leverage the tools and connections on the Ariba Network to seek out potential new business opportunities.
It should also be noted that due to postal processes and manual interventions, invoices submitted by post/paper can take 5-15 days longer to process (from supplier mailing) than invoices submitted through the Ariba network where we usually begin processing within 24 hours of receipt. This can result in a delay in suppliers receiving payment.
SAP Ariba is Elanco’s preferred method of transacting with suppliers, sending purchase orders and receiving invoices. However, suppliers in some countries may not be able to send invoices via the Ariba network due to government regulations or other local requirements. The acquisition expands our existing relationship, enabling us to maximize the impact of our R&D pipeline, bring innovative solutions to veterinarians and pet owners in areas of unmet or under-served medical needs, and ultimately, advance our shared vision of improving the lives of pets. Supplier Information on the integration of Bayer Animal Health Systems into Elanco
Since our acquisition of Bayer Animal Health in August 2020, Elanco has been operating on two separate systems and processes while we aligned our back-office systems to fully integrate both companies. Today, we are pleased to share we’ve made significant progress and expect our shift to One Integrated Elanco to be complete in April 2023. A critical step in this integration will be transitioning our suppliers, who conduct business with legacy Bayer Animal Health, onto our Elanco enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, SAP. We will begin formal communications with suppliers, early 2023.
