Elanco is proud to support people and their pets through a variety of local charities in Australia. This Christmas, for the first time, we are excited to be supporting the Petbarn Foundation Tree of Hope Appeal.
The Tree of Hope at Petbarn will be contributing donations to over 90 pet-based charities throughout Australia, including the RSPCA, Australian Pet Welfare Foundation, Empower Assistance Dogs, Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, VRA Rescue Dogs, and much, much more.
The Petbarn Foundation helps thousands of pets, animals, and their carers every day through donations to animal rescue and welfare organisations. Since it was initiated in 2012, it has contributed over $30 million to over 500 worthwhile causes and has saved more than 84,000 animals’ lives from euthanasia.
The Petbarn Foundation’s main purpose is to enrich the lives of pets and animals, and their carers. The foundation aims to achieve this through its 5 R’s philosophy.
- Reduce the euthanasia of unwanted pets.
- Encouraging Australians to think adoption first through Rescue.
- Rehabilitate abandoned, abused, and injured animals.
- Demonstrate Responsibility towards the welfare of animals.
- Bring Relief to pets and the people who love and care for them.
This year, the Petbarn Foundation is aiming to raise over $1.8 million in donations to aid over 90 worthwhile causes throughout Australia. So where do these donations go? Some of the important initiatives that the Petbarn Foundation will contribute donations to include:
- Community outreach: delivering vet care and pet supplies to communities in need.
- Adoption and rescue: assisting charities to encourage adoption and rescue to reduce the rate of euthanasia.
- Fund therapy dogs: providing support for therapy and assistance dogs for those with a disability or mental health needs.
- Domestic violence support: gifting essential pet goods and accommodation to those who have fled domestic violence or natural disasters with their furry friends.

There are many pet-passion charities that receive valuable support from the Petbarn Foundation, such as VRA Rescue NSW, which trains search-and-rescue dog teams to locate missing people in urgent need. Or, the RSPCA Safe Beds Program, who provide care and support for the pets of people who have fled dangerous domestic situations and can’t take their pets with them. Empower Therapy Dogs is another example, where children and adults can ease stress and anxiety through the presence of therapy dogs.

- Visit your local Petbarn store and donate by purchasing a $3, $5 or $10 bauble (all donations over $2 are tax-deductible in Australia).
