Highlights from Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility at Elanco in 2025

Inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) are incredibly important to us at Elanco Australia, as they aid our innovation and growth by fostering a culture of empowerment, value and respect for all of our employees.

Diversity and Inclusion Explained

Workplace diversity integrates the broader community into the workplace, where people of different ages, impairments, family responsibilities, races, cultures, religions, genders and sexualities are present, with their differences valued. Inclusion puts diversity into practice, celebrating the differences that make us all unique.

Elanco Australia prioritises diversity and inclusion in the workplace, fostering a culture of involvement, respect and connection where all our employees are valued, involved and supported. We are excited to share some highlights from our IDEA initiatives in 2025.

Elanco Diversity: Cultural Integration

To commemorate our Australian office reopening in February 2025, we commissioned and installed a framed artwork titled ‘Harmony' 2023 by Annie Roberts (Waralungku Arts, Borroloola) celebrating Indigenous Australian culture. This piece represents different groups coming together in a meeting place to exchange information through different communication methods.

‘Harmony’ was selected from a shortlist of works following discussions within the ANZ IDEA Group, with the intention of highlighting the importance of fostering connection and communication among the many different groups working together at Elanco, and of signifying our newly refurbished office as a space to facilitate these connections. We are so proud to have this beautiful artwork in our office, as connection is such an important pillar of our work culture.

In April, we successfully launched our inaugural Easter Education and Competition across Australia and New Zealand, to share in the meaning of this cultural celebration across many cultures and religions. This engaging event encouraged participation through a colouring contest and provided chocolates for children and treats for pets.

Our November focus was a cultural celebration of the Day of the Dead. Our team attended an educational session focused on the rich significance and traditions of the Day of the Dead. This celebration combines ancient indigenous rituals Mexico and Central America with Catholic traditions, and has evolved into a joyful, vibrant festival of familial remembrance, food, music, and dancing.

Elanco Diversity and Inclusion: International Women's Day and Women’s Health Education

In alignment with the International Women’s Day 2025 theme, ‘Accelerate Action’ our Australia and New Zealand teams hosted a combined event for International Women’s Day, featuring the Inspire Women Program and Women in Leadership initiatives. These programs are designed to empower women in the workplace by fostering connection and encouragement.

Elanco Australia employees have also participated in a variety of women’s health education sessions throughout the year, to highlight understanding around the specific health needs of women, including menopause education and breast cancer awareness.

Equity and Inclusion Explained

Workplace equity puts the concept of equality into action; where all employees are recognised for their unique circumstances and needs, and provided fair access to resources, opportunities and growth.

To foster equity and inclusion at Elanco Australia, our ANZ team participated in multigenerational education featuring Lindsay Boccardo's insightful presentation ‘Every Generation Wins: Why Building Multi-Generational Teams is the Future’. This presentation offered practical insights into bridging the gap between different generations in the workplace and how diverse age groups can form highly effective teams when inclusion is prioritised.

We celebrated the International Day of People with Disability in December. 2025’s theme was ‘Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together’; emphasising the importance of innovative solutions, technologies, and policies in promoting disability rights and building inclusive communities.

Accessibility at Elanco Australia

To mark Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day and Spinal Injury Project Week, Professor James St John, Head of the Clem Jones Centre for Neurobiology and Stem Cell Research at Griffith University, Queensland, provided a comprehensive update on the Spinal Cord Injury Project (SIP). This built on our education from 2024, aiding us in learning how to best support our employees so they can reach their full potential.
