Elanco, United Way Worldwide Announce Global Partnership to “Break the Cycle of Hunger in 100 Communities"

Elanco Animal Health and United Way Worldwide announce a strategic partnership to address global hunger/food security. Elanco is committing $300,000 to “Break the Cycle of Hunger” in 100 Communities by 2020.

Greenfield, Ind. – In recognition of World Hunger Day 2016 (May 28th), Elanco Animal Health, a division of Eli Lilly and Company(LLY), and United Way Worldwide announce a strategic partnership to address global hunger/food security. Elanco is committing $300,000 to “Break the Cycle of Hunger” in 100 Communities by 2020.

Currently this effort has been implemented in 62 communities in 18 countries impacting over 650,000 households. Examples of some of these communities include:

  • Indianapolis, USA –Actively participating in and funding a collective impact approach to

              create a sustainable hunger relief system in central Indiana (Indy Hunger Network)

  • Ontario, Canada – partnering with pork producers to increase protein supply to local food

              banks (Ontario Pork)

  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – providing nutritious school meals for 350 Myanmar refugee

              children at the Chin Student Organization

  • Copperbelt, Zambia – helping more than 12,000 families increase their food security and

              incomes thruough sustainable livestock farming (Heifer International)

Elanco employees are able to use a half day per quarter to volunteer as they work to the collective goal of contributing 200,000 volunteer hours by 2020.
