Greenfield, Ind. – In recognition of World Hunger Day 2016 (May 28th), Elanco Animal Health, a division of Eli Lilly and Company(LLY), and United Way Worldwide announce a strategic partnership to address global hunger/food security. Elanco is committing $300,000 to “Break the Cycle of Hunger” in 100 Communities by 2020.
Currently this effort has been implemented in 62 communities in 18 countries impacting over 650,000 households. Examples of some of these communities include:
create a sustainable hunger relief system in central Indiana (Indy Hunger Network)
banks (Ontario Pork)
children at the Chin Student Organization
incomes thruough sustainable livestock farming (Heifer International)
“Fighting food insecurity is central to Elanco’s vision of Food and Companionship Enriching Life,” said Noel Paul, global leader, Elanco corporate responsibility. “Partnering with United Way Worldwide gives us the global reach we need to make an impact in their local communities in a sustainable way.”
Elanco employees are able to use a half day per quarter to volunteer as they work to the collective goal of contributing 200,000 volunteer hours by 2020.
